Can I bypass installer's code in security system?

I don't actually want to do it, I was thinking of hiring a pro to fix/finish my home security system. My cousin who is way too busy to come and finish the job, started it, and i added a few contacts, keypads, and sensors to the system. I want to label them and tie them into the existing working system. Everything additional, such as basement window contacts, glass sensors, shed contacts/sensors, keypads, etc.. are wired and connected and at the panel in the closet. The panel is where they need to be hooked up and finished. I placed the EOL resistors at the keypads while connecting them.
With a little research, I may even be able to tackle that, but i still would need to label some stuff, so I'll just leave it to someone else.
It is a Gemini/Napco product.
Can an outside contractor come in and do that or do I need the code? I am not on central station yet, but may want to activate that in the future.
Yes, I can call my cousin, yet again, and ask a few questions, but I'd rather not. He's a contractor, good guy, but just too busy.

If its not on a central system and your cousin installed it all the first round, then he probably also has the installer code for the panel. You can ask him for it since he is busy... but i would probably let him do it. There is ALOT of things to configure for each added device besides just naming them and correctly attaching them to the appropriate contact. They need to be placed in the correct zone and the panel needs to know what to do once it sees a signal from the device (whatever that may be depending on the device).
Not saying you can't handle all that, just saying that if you haven't before, you may not want to get your feet wet on a working system. Resetting the installer code could be as simple as resetting the panel (you may lose your entire current setup though)... or if it is like the DMP i have at home, if you lose that code it has to be sent in to be reset, which costs a pretty penny.

I'm a little bummed about it. It's been a couple of years now that I've wanted it done.
Thanks for the reply.
That's what happens when 'family' gets involved, right? lol I used to work for him doing electrical work. He's an Electrician. I ran and connected everything at their points, and he connected and programmed it at the panel when I was done.

He may have left it at the default code. Also, check the installation manual for methods to reset the code.

I seriously doubt he changed the installer code. Same thing happened to me when my alarm was installed. Guy never came back to really finish up, wasn't alot left to do anyway, so I decided to do it myself and had no problems configuring the system with the default code.

I work for a large electronic security firm and might be able to help. What model Gemini/Napco control panel is it? That's the box in the closet. It would also help to know which model/part# the keypads are. EOL at the keypads? Doesn't sound right unless the keypads have zone expansion built it. Keypads by themselves do not require EOL resistors.

I know that Ademco panels will allow you to disconnect the battery, drop power, then power it up and key in a sequence within a limited time that will cause it to display the installer/programming/user codes.
Yours may have a similar feature - but I would bet the installer code is still at factory default.

»www.napcosecurity.com/ge ··· 1ca.html I have the 'Ae2' from those two choices.
and this panel... »www.napcosecurity.com/ge ··· 200.html
When I just opened the panel, it said 'master security code...XXX-XXX' right in the center of the box. lol Never noticed that before.
Thanks for the replies.
